On March 31, Boys Town Louisiana welcomed community leaders, partners, supporters, families and neighbors to our Intervention and Assessment Center on Behrman Highway for the ribbon cutting of a new basketball court. The gathering included council members Jennifer Van Vrancken and Tim Kerner and marked the opening of a space designed to support youth development, wellness and connection.
More than just a place to play, the new court reflects the importance of safe, welcoming spaces where young people can build confidence, connect with mentors and feel a sense of belonging. As Executive Director Rashain Carriere-Williams shared during the event, the Intervention and Assessment Center is a second home for youth, offering room to grow, learn teamwork and feel seen. The court will serve hundreds of young people over the coming years.
The ribbon cutting also reflected the kind of community partnership that makes this work possible. We were glad to celebrate alongside board members, neighbors, families and community partners, including Cox and the Terrytown Civic Association. We were especially grateful to hear council member Tim Koerner announce a $10,000 commitment to further enhance the space with new equipment and additional resources for the youth who will use it.
